Level E

Dear Parents,

We would like to wish you a great 2017-2018 year. In the Arabic World Language class, students will develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through a variety of oral and written activities. The focus this year is on reading fluency with emphasis on higher level comprehension and usage of the language. Daily life contexts are used to develop practical vocabulary and grammatical structures. Students are encouraged to use Arabic inside and outside of class. We use the World Language Initiative (WLI) and other supplementary curriculum materials and resources.

Home Learning Activities

Students will receive a home learning packet every Monday. Arabic home learning will focus on practicing what has been taught in class, working on specific projects, and reading books. The home learning packet is due by Thursday. Regular practice supports developing reading fluency and comprehension. Books need to be returned to the Arabic class. The aim is to spend at least ten minutes daily reviewing Arabic content.

We will be posting the new information for every new unit on the Arabic World Language Blog (approximately every 6 weeks). We will occasionally post audio files and weblinks in the blog for your child to practice their new content.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Ghada Abou Elenin gaboelenin@cacegypt.org

Looking forward to a great, successful year for your children’s Arabic learning.
